You need a reality on Mexico and it’s policy towardsthe citizens of that country. You need to know what your talking about. What you feel about resources is pure conjecture. Don’t be naive. Get info and a grip on reality.

I can see how that would be considered a "taking" by the state. But couldn't they just "take" the resources without needing to "take" the property?

While growing up in state of DurangoOn a ranch, my family just held their breath hoping oil or gold would not be found It would have meant seizing land, no compensation. I always felt that natural resources should be divisible among the residents of the land from which they were drawn. I guess I adopted a vision of land ownership like that of our Indigenous Indians. They were wiped out due to their viewpoint not meshing with that of the "settlers." For a time in Mexico the oil company, Pemex, was state-owned.
