 Been to CR many times. Good places to eat in San Jose. The train museum is good.Lots of things to do. Rio Negro tour was fun. Drake Bay is very nice near the Nat'l Park we flew in and then went by boat to the hostel on the beach. Lots of hiking and thrasing thru the jungle. Lots of jungle.  Diving off the park is great, snorkeling go out in a boat to the island and poke around under water.. White water rafting was really nice got us to the middle of the jungle where that stupid Gorrila movie was made. Lots of birds and animals. Puerto Jiminez is very nifty. Julia Roberts has a farm there. You have to fly in from San Jose. Lots of turtle nests on the beach. We stayed on the volcano Turialba a five hour drive from the city but really nice. Good food nice people., 10,000 feet at a  the hostel and very cold at night. Rode horses trough the lava tubes in the rain. 
Found a bar in Quepos run by some old Soap Creek poeple. The hot springs under Arenal are very nice.

If you follow my Air BnB path be sure and mention my name so I get cred. I found another one in Fort Worth that is fabulous for $120 a night. It is 750 sq. ft with a fabulous big bathtub and giant flat screen tv. It had been the owner's suite. He still runs the restaurant. 
It's near the Stock Yard tourist area above a Mediterranean restaurant. Byblos is at 1406 N. Main St. Ft. Worth, TX with a buffet, a Hooka lounge and complete bar. We invited friends over for drinks and dinner twice--lovely.
Here is a link about the mission I am on in Costa Rica--looking for fresh sour sop fruit. I want to see if they will be able to stock my Fruit King neighborhood fruit stand.
