[AGL] Skyping from the express bus back to Berlin

I've seen Skyping done at parties when one relative is on the other side of the world. It was a novel idea, all right. I found it is less comfortable than merely talking by phone, and perhaps more awkward than keyboarding one another--which I seem to have taken to like a duck to water.
I don't think that my latest computer has a camera or a microphone but I think the Skype software is installed. I did buy a freestanding mike, and I guess I'd have to buy a camera, too, if I ever want to use it.
The "production values" leave something to be desired, kinda like herky jerky picture flow and character generated voice sounds. I know the voices are real--they just sound character generated, kinda like on a Kindle.
I will send an article that's relevant to this technological revolution that I just read and sent to the ghetto list. It is about people who are losing their jobs due to technological advancements that bring about massive unemployment. I found it compelling. It sure makes me glad that I don't have to compete in the job market any more. It makes me smile to think of my dear mother's first job--telephone operator, just like Earnestine with the console and plug-ins, only nicer.
Best,
Frances
