Caus was not exactly a member of the Ghetto but peripheral.  Knew many of the architecture students and met many at parties. (Doug and Carol Cardinal)  Admired many of the true Ghetto people...sort of a Ghetto Austin groupie I suppose.

Everyone knew and admired Gilbert but from afar in my case.  Knew and liked Mike and Madylon - still do.  Don' know Michele but might recognize in person.

wow! the full Salafist getup including the robes. i have NEVER seen that in Austin.

Salafist fundamentalists in America! i believe the term of art for this 
persuasion is Islamist (as opposed to Islamic). 
it is somewhat comforting that Moslim mosques have been informing the FBI 
about these types on an ongoing basis since 9/11. and that no act 
of terrorism has happened after 10 years. maybe stink eye should be 
criminalized 
on another subject, i was stopped by a cop yesterday for crossing the street at 6th 
& Congress against the light. it was a "Warning". after i signed the warningt he 
said You are free to go. I said What? He replied "technically you were being detained." 
the cop explained he was enforcing PEST. 
  
APD Highway Enforcement Command announces Pedestrian Safety Initiative
Monday, October 24, 2011 
The APD Highway Enforcement Command announced the creation of a Pedestrian Enforcement Safety Team (PEST) to conduct a pedestrian initiative beginning Sunday, October 23, 2011 through Saturday, November 5, 2011 at a news conference on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011.  The goal of the PEST initiative is to educate the community on pedestrian laws and to conduct enhanced enforcement operations. There have been 17 pedestrians killed in crashes so far this year.   Below are some key elements of the PEST Initiative: Locations will be selected based on crash data analysis: Pedestrian violations include:

Disregarding Pedestrian Control Device
Solicitation by Pedestrian
Pedestrian Crossing Where Prohibited (Mopac, I-35, etc.)
Pedestrian in the Roadway
