Well, dear ones...this is an appeal for $$$!  I've tried to weed out the list to people who actually did not know Cissi personally...but even my girlfriend in Connecticut, who only knew Cissi through 30 years' association with me, is sending $5.  Every dollar helps.  Today at the garage sale, a perfect stranger bought some posters and when he found out what the sale was about, he handed Carlos $20!  So, no amount is too small.  We really need to help finish paying for the cremation (Carlos is down about $800 and he is in the same boat we all are...especially since he went to the hospital twice a day for 5 weeks and didn't work full time!).  I maxed out a credit card to pay the $278.16 for the obit in the Statesman.  I can eventually pay that off and, to me, it is very little considering what she meant to me--our closeness for over 40 years and the many lessons about caring and giving that I learned from her! 

Michael...please pass this on to the ghetto list.

I know we'll get it all together and have an incredible "gathering"...a memorial for Cissi.  She touched so many lives. 

A quick story...Sue Rehler, Cissi's neighbor at Western Trails Apts. was emptying the closet the other day with me and she found a box marked "Christmas" that was full of socks and throws (light blankets!).  I told her that Cissi gave the homeless who live under the bridges there on Ben White socks and blankets at Christmas, or during very cold weather in Austin, to help them stay warm.  That was our Cissi...ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT OTHERS AND GIVING WHEN SHE HAD SO VERY LITTLE HERSELF.  She lived on less than $700/month!
