Didn't the city force the "A" off the property to build an office bldg that
never filled up; major blunder!

Eddie Wilson was fired in 76 (i remember their radio
ads: "Yes Eddie threre is life after the Armidillo.") -
which I thought at the time was very mean spirited.
As far as I knew Eddie (only in his office at the
Armadillo), he seemed very friendly.
Fletcher Boone (as the Wizard poisonally recounted
this to me) gave him the decrepit bar on Sabine st.
which Fletcher had rented real cheap, like $150 a
month INCLUDING THE FIXTURES so Eddie
could remake his life in the hospitality profession.
This was greasy cheap lunch steaks and all Fletcher's
friends started patronizing it. But Fletcher lost his
job at the paint store so he and Lopez/Smithams
took it back from Eddie and it became the Raw
Deal. But that's a different story.
apparently the Armdillo struggled along until
closing 5 years after Eddie. the times they were
a changin'
they are playing Joe Cocker now who did a knockout
show as Cliff Endres told me who was there.
this show runs only until noon and they are playing
only from 1980 www.kut.org
Obama visits Austin on Aug 9, will visit UT and
then do a fundraiser at the 4 Seasons
