Frances,
thanks for forwarding it to Fontaine but Fontaine reads this list.
i only put 1 of the 4 sections of the interview where itcould
be clicked on. i assume most everyone who wanted to hear it
listened on the radio or through their computer.
i just did it because i just installed MP3MyMP3 , that's the
name of the program. it works seemlessly with WinAmp on
PC's and presumably other programs like Windows Media
Player. it permits grabbing an audio stream and saving it as a .mp3
or .wav file.
the user starts and then stops the recording while listening to
the audio stream. i recorded the interview in sections because
there were boring interludes of fund raising for this lame radio
station.
on the off chance that you, dear reader, wanted to but did
not hear the interview, i can report that Gilbert maintained
a delightful contrarian viewpoint to the received interpretation
of Austin Daze in the '60s Thorne being a kind of a left wing
John Clay on that subject
Thorne brought up Detective Gans' dossier on the ghetto gang
- which AGL subscribers will remember - as a humorous example
of police surveillance. Gilbert observed that the dossier was
more or less true. He was also contrarian on the etymology of
the Ghetto behind Dirty's, he credited Ted Klein as inventing
the name. Apparently Klein WAS thinking of jewish ghettos.
I believe Ted Klein left town before i got here in 1963, my friend
Bob Charles I believe was a friend of his. An academic in the
music area? Can anybody say?
