Red River Motors was truly a piece of exotic
Austin as were its owners Artie Osborne and
Doug Hiram Breeding, Artie's cook Galen,
the yard's mechanic and the cars and pieces
of cars lying about. Why just a week ago,
i ran into the handsome Patrick McGonigle
and we planned to meet again at the Red River
Motors partay next spring.

i was first taken there by Sandy Lockett
who warned me, Sandy style, that many
of the denizens of said party worked for
Willie Nelson, packed heat and were not
to be trifled with.

Sic transit gloria mundi!

which reminds me that Artie has a master's
degree in Latin. i once took him to lunch
trying to get him to sell me a Suzuki 3
cylinder motor out of a Geo Metro to put
in my sailboat. Promising him as yet
undefined quid pro quos for it, i reminded
him that manus lavat manum (one hand
washes the other) but not recognizing the
old saw
(http://www.google.com/search?q=saw+definition&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=or
g.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-ait), it only made
him angry.
