I keep wondering why Obama doesn't point out in these "Joe the Plumber" arguments that the amount of money being talked about is NET TAXABLE. Lets say Joe the Plumber makes 300,000 in one year. Then he has another 150,000 in business expenses.  Maybe with two kids and a mortgage, his personal deductions/expenses are another 25,000. So, he gets a tax cut. 

I think people who aren't tuned in to the way taxes work are thinking that they are talking about gross income. Huge difference.
