knee-jerk, uncritical = fanatical

you are Humpty Dumping your words.

"Mike's knee-jerk, uncritical support of
Israel and Zionism" is a gratuitous slur on me.

My support of Israel is critical, I don't do knee-jerk.

I'm always glad to find someone well disposed
towards me. Let's make a point of discussing
something when we next meet.

> "just that I oppose it's [sic] leadership and much of its

> political stance."

you know nothing about their political stance because
you don't read the Israeli press. nor their leadership.
i doubt you could name them.

Matters of substance: PA rejected Israel offer to
return 88% of West Bank. Israel upped the offer
to 91%. PA just rejected this offer offering themselves
1.8% not to be returned to them. This does not
include negotiation about Jerusalem which Israel
insists is to be negotiated last.

Israel and Syria now negotiating about the return
of the Golan Heights to Syria through the good
agency of Turkey. Truce with Hamas through the
good agency of Egypt seems to be receding.

like i said you dont know jackshit about Israel in
the real world in the here and now. no reason that
you should of course. that doesnt stop you from
decrying them out of ignorance though it should.

Found it.
I'm sorry, but to compare Michael Eisenstadt and Hal womack is like
comparing oranges and rotten apples. I emphatically disagree with Mike's
knee-jerk, uncritical support of Israel and Zionism. Israel has clearly
played and continues to play a reactionary and oppressive role in the Middle
East.

But when you move from judging people by their politics to judging them by
their ancestry, you're on the slippery slope. Alan, you refer to Hal being
"purged for being what someone thought was anti-Semitic." Have you read
Womack's rages against Catholics and "Jew jingoes" and the "bony hand of
Jewish control of the U.S. empire"?

Does Hal Womack's "left track record" forgive his sad descent into the
fringes of neo-Nazism?

Maybe I was harsh, but I don't figure "knee-jerk, uncritical" quite equals
"fanatical," a term which I never would have used. Nor, incidentally, does
my characterization of Israel's "reactionary and oppressive role" in any way
suggest I question it's validity as a state, just that I oppose it's
leadership and much of its political stance.
And please understand that, though my ancestry is only half-Jewish (and on
the wrong side!) I know anti-Semitism for the evil that it is and fear its
reemergence (not that it was ever far away) and will always speak out
against it where I see it.
We can disagree, Mike, but please realize there are gradations of
disagreement.
And, you're probably right, we have talked several times -- more than just
saying "Hi' -- but not on a matter of "substance."
Peace?
