The wonder of poaching out of town radio stations
out of the air and hearing them through 2 old but
still excellent JBL speakers is not yet stale.
The oud is played with a quill striking a single
string forwards and backwards. Like the doubled
strings of a mandolin are striked. Oud in a jazz
context (or any other context) is ear candy of the
highest order.
Leonard Cohen in one of his tours had an oud
virtuoso in his band.
so doing something else i realized i was hearing
jazz oud in hi-fi. to the moon, Alice.
