if Hamas had had the discipline to maintain a self-imposed
hudna after they democratically won the election in Gaza,
they might have subsequently won a West Bank election
from Fatah. Then, having taken over the West Bank, then
they could have commenced rocketing ALL of Israel.

Now, the Israelis will NEVER NEVER NEVER leave 
the West Bank for fear that Hamas might win an
election there.

Luckily, Hamas did NOT have the discipline to 
maintain a hudna and hold off shooting rockets into Israel.

Hudna means truce. The Islamic world for centuries
considered themselves theologically under a hudna,
a truce with the non-Islamic world so that ordinary
life might go on. But at the same time, there is the
underlying Islamic belief that Allah means to give
Islam political rule over all the lands in the whole world.
A corollary of this belief is the belief that 
all lands that were ever under Islam should be 
reclaimed. That means Spain and it certainly means
60 year old Israel which is a land recently part of the
Turkish empire.

Islam is a tribal religion and Moslems do not 
convert especially considering that it is an automatic 
death sentence in Arab lands to convert from 
being a Moslem. The religion is self-perpetuating and
when collectively speaking it is on a roll, the 
obligatory jihad with the non-Islamic world takes
over more and more from the state of hudna.

as for Israel, a Palestinian may well say to an Israeli
'you are living in my grandfather's house and my
children will take it back in the future.' to which
the Israeli can say 'well i'm living in it now and 
you aren't. and we will both be dead before they
do, if they ever do.'

on the large scale, the whole world is filled with 
people who have been sent packing from where
their grandfathers lived. in the fullness of time,
these injustices are forgotten in subsequent generations
so that people can get on with their lives. 

but that will not be the case with the Palestinians
and other Moslems BECAUSE IT IS IN THEIR
RELIGION. 

now we non-jews might well say, let Islam take
back Israel and perhaps Islam will go back to 
having a hudna with the non-Islamic world. 
and that in light of the Spanish security services
and 30 million Spaniards, they are unlikely to take 
back Spain (The Indian wants the Bronx).

this may be a good idea and might yet happen.
Israel will vanish but not willingly seeing that
they are armed to the teeth with atomic weapons.

Palestinians living in Gaza consists of 1.4 million
people living in a tiny strip of land about 20 or
so miles long by several miles wide. They can't
easily emigrate, there is no work, so what else 
is there to do but to undertake jihad. So this
situation is self-perpetuating. What to do?
