[AGL] Old Girls meeting

Will try to make it.

I was remiss not to have reported to the list that Mary Holman,
Henry's widow, died Thanksgiving Day.

Many happy memories of sitting at the Holman's table at the Scholz
Garden (Mary's favorite tipple was rum and coke) and listening to
Henry's tall tales. Mary was an obstetrics nurse at Breakenridge
Hospital, on the happy floor as she used to say. She once
explained to me the true meaning of the Texas saying "Bless
your heart!" explaining its heartless subtext. This was after I had
recovered from an illness. She asked if anyone had told me "Bless,
etc." Someone indeed had said it and I had taken it for what
it sounded like, not truly understanding it.

I doubt we will ever see again twins Mike and Pat Holman dress
up like their parents and do spoofs of Mary and Henry's non-
sequitur conversations.
