surgery? what surgery? my cataract surgery was around 1988. it is day
surgery, they do one eye at a time. since your operated eye is out of
commission for a while, each eye is done separately. greatest operation of
my short life, put
away the glasses i had worn since 9 years old. no more groping for the
glasses on the bedtable upon waking. no more taking them off before sex. it
changed my life. if you live in Austin you must have Dr Gary Rylander. My
dentist at that time said Gary Rylander and i had my roommate's 1st cousin
who is an ophthamologist in San Francisco ask about this when he was
attending his professional meeting in Dallas. They told him Gary Rylander.
so it is overdetermined. accept no other.
but it does make one somewhat photosensitive, slightly. to walk in direct
sunlight annoys my eyes without a billed cap. so i always wear one unless it
is cloudy.
if i post from the Gmail Web page even though my monitor background is set
to middle grey, you will see it with a white background. i set my background
color to white to grey to white to grey to test this. but i prefer real
(POP) email to Web-page based email. and my background color remains middle
grey. Outlook Express and your setup have an anomaly. I suspect that if you
set your email preferences to non-HTML or plain text you wont see a grey
background.
as for the movie, i was afraid that long url wouldnt work. the way to see it
is to go to www.nytimes.com and on the top page is an article on Japan
rearming with a picture of their new fighter jet. right underneath the
article there is a link to a video/movie on that subject. the long url was
unique to me (i am registered with them), their software looks at the
nytimes cookie on my end and automatically "logs me in." i had forgot that
factum so should not have sent the url, sorry.
the 19 minute movie is full of reality shots of Japan in the context of
China and its billion people with interesting remarks by various Japanese
from a foreign minister to college students who have learnt English. And
others with an English translation overdubbed. blew me away, sorta. there is
nothing alarming in this movie, more a wonder at how great the world is, its
charm is in showing us an exotic many-layered reality. The title is
misleading.
