[AGL] Van Overbeeks Springs Pix

In the late '70's I used to produce concerts at the bandstand across from the pool (Musician's Union) which was called the Zilker Hillside Theater. Tried to always go early and have a dip prior to the show. Beautiful memories of the Park and the pool and the music and the girls. Have only a dim memory of the dogs. Remembering "Fat Boy in the Water" by Beto and the Fairlanes as I write this. But, alas, the shows were such a success that we had to move them to a larger location, thus began entertainment at Town Lake Shores...and an end to my regular visits to the beautiful pool. Success can be an illusion. Big can trump beautiful.

My zone is currently deep green and growing fast thanks to a wet spring. Last year at this time it was stark brown due to drought. Up early and outside to get in some work before it gets too hot and the mosquitoes awake, spotted the deer who have lots of camouflage. No telling what else is lurking in the deep green. Trail to the river is grown up already and nearly impassable...just as well, too shallow to dip. Now I stay in the cool house in the afternoons and watch DVD's or sports on the HDTV...and remember. Thanks for the photos and the memories.

Well, I didn't see any photos of topless gals. My recollection is that topless was all the rage in the late 70's and on up into the mid-80's. After that, you didn't see many boobs. The earliest photo in this exhibit was a black and white of a sea of folk on rubber rafts. I liked the shots of people in mid-dive, and the dogs of course.

Duh, do the big girls wear tops again these days? Or does Will ignore them?

Remembering the '60's (in NM),
