i followed your tip and found lots of him on the Guardian newspaper
web site. thanks.

Sauve is an unbeliveably pissant town. unlike just about everywhere else
in that area, it doesnt have a tourist bureau or a web site. all the other
towns
do. i wonder how they found it. its town square is the ugliest and
most barren one i have ever seen in a French town. its like going to
France and discovering Allentown Pennsylvania. however their view of
the river from their patio is to die for. if you had that you wouldnt
need anything else like Steve Martin and his ping pong racket and
his chair in The Jerk. even the river, the Vidourle, is a pissant river,
going
almost dry in the summer. it terminates in a marsh near the sea.

i love his drawings although my old lady who is a painter does not.
she showed me some Breughel drawings this morning since i was
showing Crumb graphics on the Guardian site. as he says in one
of the interviews, he is a mother-fucker of a cross-hatcher.
(he uses a Rapid-o-Graph 0.0 and crow (steel) quills).

i think part of the charm of his drawings is the ancillary thought
that one is so glad not to be as fucked up as him.

the Guardian site has his History of America which i had never
seen before in the colored version, just the b & w version.
this allowed him to put in heavy air pollution colored orange
as it is in real life on the horizon in the last panel.
