i dont love those harleys so much. austin has become
the locus for frequent harley owner events and all
weekend when there is one one can hear the slobs
on the sickles all day and all night gunning the throttles
and farting their war cry - BLAP, BLAP, BLAP - as
they make their exciting way up and down and around
the block.

reminds of those long lost nights in front of Paul
Sessum's Black Cat (R.I.P. both of them) on 6th
streen when the bikers parked in front of the Cat
used to buy "Biker Buckets" from him (6 longneck
Buds in a plastic bucket full of ice for $10) - that
was when you could still drink on the street. every
once in a while each biker would start up his sickle
with much blapping and farting and take an exciting
jaunt around the block.

Paul to hear him say it despised bikers ("they don't
dance" he said). once i asked him why they wore
all those keys hanging from their belts: "they own
lots of rent houses" he explained.

and many bikers attended his wake at the Black
Cat before it burned down (somehow inevitably).
i tried telling the rent house keys joke to the engineer
husband of an artist lady, attending the wake. in the
course of telling the tale as his face grew colder i
remembered that i had seen a classic Harley sikle in
their garage. wrong guy for THAT story.

bottom line: Roberta his widow living now in Palacios
married a biker.
