[AGL] Frida devotion may be a health hazard, Say what?

Jon,
I can see how libidinously active extremely creative people can be, as they "reach out" to others regardless of gender. Carson McCullers was also so powerfully sexually needy that she once passed out on Kathryn Ann Porter's door step at Caddo, pleading for "attention." It was said that KAP stepped over her blacked out body and went on to the evening meal.
I love them both and can see both points of view.
Best,
Frances

Good insight, Frances-- Frida does have some kind of archetypal qualities
that resonate strongly with women, but I don't quite understand them, as a
mere man. I think overcoming great pain to create something of lasting
beauty is one thing that makes her a uniquely women's icon-- women suffer
from tremendous pain during mentrual periods and childbirth, yet experience
the joy of creating new life. Unable to bear children, Frida's new life was
in her painting. On the other hand, the weird relationship she had with the
cheatin' hombre, Diego Rivera, is something many women can relate to as
well. And then there was her own ability to reach out sexually to powerful
men like Trotsky, as well as her lesbian affairs. She was also a fine
teacher, another role women can respond to.
