Henry and Mary Holman were tenderly brought to
Beverly Veltman's birthday partay out in the country
a month or so ago.
Mary kept on saying "I don't remember you/that"
as she has for a number of years whereas Henry still
seemed potentially lucid. But Mike, their son, told
me no, that Henry had apparently lost it about 6
months previously.
For those like Wayne Johnson who don't/didn't
know the Holman saga, their children were 4, now
3, 2 fraternal twins, Mike and Pat, and a daughter
Harriet who is married to a Greek man who is/was
big in the CIA. One son, Henry Holman III. died
on his motorsikle in California many moons ago.
Henry was a carpenter for UT at the Little Campus
specializing in coffee breaks and he and Mary were
fixtures at the Scholz Garten, on Friday nights, for
many many moons. Mary was an obstetrics RN at
Brakenridge Hospital, on the happy floor, as she used
to say.
H & M made many legendary forays into the
countryside for example Copper Canyon in Mexico.
and Henry especially loved driving around Texas to
old graveyards and little towns and buying stuff at the
hardware store where my roommate and I separately
often ran into him. He was always a hoot, he never
failed to please.
But not at Bev's birthday partay.
> I'm sad to report that Henry Holman has passed away. Arrangements are
> pending as the family is gathering from all over. I hope someone who has
> access to the American Statesman Obituaries will post it.
