  It was not shocking to see Bush belching, his mouth full, crumbs falling on his tie, to yakk haughtily over his shoulder at Blaircophant at the G8.
  It was not shocking to have him reduce the labrynthian Cedar Cataclysm to some simple shit.
  It was certainly not even slightly surprising for him to assume that this whole thing could be fixed, by a phone call from one crony to another, like a speeding ticket in Kennebunkport.  That's the way his life has been lived. 
  Get your draft notice for 'Nam in the mail ?  Why, ya just call a crony, and he calls a pal, and bingo, your flight school wings are delivered in a flash.
  And even when ya don't show up for the training, dad just makes another call, and umm, mission accomplished.
  All his life, the rules have never applied to him. 
  Consequences don't occur to George because they have never existed for this numbskull scion of extreme white privilege, whose pose as a jussplainfolks is astoundingly effective with the Booboisie, but who has never once in his life had to face the consequences of his actions, nor be responsible for a single one of his crimes.  Even when he knocked up his honey, arrangements were conveniently made. 
  Got a little hassle over in Arabia ?  Just have Kofi call Assad, and poof, the problem gets fixed. Simple.
  That's the way the world works for George. He learned it from his poppa, who learned it from HIS poppa. Too bad they didn't teach table manners, but then again, Georgie was usually fed dinner by the maid.
  No, what was shocking about his performance at the G-8 was that he appeared to have no blooming idea that Israel was going to attack Lebanon. 
  It all seemed to come as a complete surprise to him. Like his Texas teenie sweetie gettin' preggers. Now how did DAT happen ?
  Not that it was a surprise to The People Who Really RUN This Place.
  Do you imagine for an AIPAC second that Olmert didn't tell Cheney ? That Netanyahu never spilled the farfel to Rumsfeld or at the very least his PNAC pals Perle and Wolfie and Bolton ? That The People Who Really RUN This Place had no idea ?
  TPWRRTP and the people who really run Israel are the same people.

  They all KNEW. 'Cept it looks like nobody told George. He was told that Assad is the bad guy, and that Syria tells Hezbollah what to do, that its all Iran's fault, and that its all about the 2 "kidnapped" soldiers, and those were the cards he played. America loves a man who talks with his mouth full and gropes middle-aged women. 
  When Blair offered to go to Syria and Lebanon and personally mediate, George cut him off. Yo Blair, pipe down, Condi's going.
  But, said Tony, if I go, I don't have to succeed, just blow hot air.  If SHE goes, she has to bring home a winner.
  But George had his orders-  Condi was going.
  Now any dummy can see what's about to happen, even from way up here in the cheap seats.
  Did anyone notice that there are events that used to be called elections -- scheduled in ummm, a few months ? and the BIG one in a coupla years ?
  That, even with the riggis in extremis that's going down in so many places that used to be called States, it still looks like Bush is gonna get whacked and will take a lotta Republicans with him.
  What they need is to create A new Pearl Harborowitz. 
  Plus, a brand new emergency episode of The Lone Ranger.
  Don't worry boys, Condi's on the way.
  TPWRRTP - as always -- have their very clear priorities. 
  Priority #1, as always-- retaining and solidifying and expanding their power. This comes before anything. Certainly it comes before the death and destruction of a few thousand brownish people in Lebbernon, or their houses or stores or hospitals.  As has been hideously obvious from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, and now again in Iraq and Tyre, the fate of brown people and their children matters not a Machiavellian momento when money, power or a re-election is at stake. Their interest is in prolonging the crisis, blocking any attempts to impose a universal cease fire, escalating the confrontation, promulgating instability chaos and fear. The more instability, the less the possibility of organized popular resistance.
  The suffering of the Lebanese, just like the Iraqis or Afghans or Katrina victims, has no place in their thoughts. 
  (As you read this, the USA has just expedited an enormous emergency shipment of billions of dollars of armaments including bunker buster bombs to Israel.  The Israelis seem to have dropped all the ones they had.)
  The obscenely complicit media makes a terrific Tonto.
  Israeli troops massed for INVASION !!!!!!
  Horrid video of tragic Israeli victims of heinous Hezbollah rocket attacks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  Awful scenes of poor American families, cramped tearfully together on Greek Ocean Liners, to evacuate the devastation- stacked together for hours in  total deprivation--  no burgers, no cable TV and no Charmin Ultra !!!!!!!
  But wait-  The Lone Rangeress is on the way. 
  She will ride into town, and save the day.
  As Cheney (Hey, there's a WAR on, where has HE been? I'll tellya, out there on the campaign trail, rustling up money for Republican candidates, that's where) said last night --  The rise of The Hezbollah, and the War in Lebanon proves that we have to accelerate and escalate the war on Terror. That we were RIGHT all along, and to abandon the current Regime would obviously be a disaster for the country.
  Cheney, at a fundraising appearance for a GOP congressional candidate, said that as Republicans make their case to voters in the midterm elections, "it's vital that we keep issues of national security at the top of the agenda."
  "This conflict is a long way from over," ..."It's going to be a battle that will last for a very long time. It is absolutely essential that we stay the course."
  "If anyone thinks the conflict is over or soon to be over, all they have to do is look at what's happening in the Middle East today," he said.
  What a setup.
  Rove and the rest have looked into the Grizzly Ball, and here's what's coming:
  Israel has commenced "incursions" into Lebanon.  Thousands of Israeli troops are INSIDE Lebanon. Killing any people in the way. This is 
  "incursion." Invasion is when They do it Us.
  Israel's pinpoint surgical attacks have proven amazingly accurate, having exterminated nearly 100% live people so far. Statistically, almost none of the victims were already dead when the bombs landed. Incredible.
  Thousands more IDF troops tanks and artillery, plus overwhelming air cover, are massed on the border.
  Kofi Annan is highly concerned that a massive humanitarian disaster may occur soon.  The mass graves of hundreds of pinpointed Lebanese must not qualify- nor the panicked exodus of hundreds of thousands whose homes and villages have likewise been pinpointed to dust. If you ask Kofi, what's happened so far is just a little intestinal gas, nothing to worry about, but it could get serious soon. 
  But-  what is that cloud of dust on the horizon ? Why its Condoleeza !
  She will arrive, and in 48 hours, POOF ! -- Peace in Our Time. 
  Like magic, the Israelis will dis-incur their asses back, the UN and a collection of non-Arabic speaking "peacekeeping troops"  will arrive, CNN and Fox and The NY Times can move on to more important stuff, and Lebanon can disappear one more time into the mist of disattention.
  And Condi can arrive back to huzzahs and Sunday talk show excess. Maybe even a Nobel nomination. Like Kissinger.
  The proof will be clear-  The world is a horrifying and dangerous place, people hate us for our freedom, but-- fear not, because the Bushies know how to keep us safe, so vote for them in November. And vote we will.
  Then come 2008 ?  Condi for President !  Winner of the Nobel Prize ! She brought us Peace in our Time !
  Israel is the one issue that the Democrats do not and will never use as a wedge issue, nor take anything resembling a opposing position.
  Save Kucinich, and a pitifyingly few others, there does not exist a single governmental or elected voice against the Israeli massacre.
  You want gay marriage ? You want clean air ? Vote for the Democrats.  You want to be safe in your house ?  Vote for The Republicans.
  Rove is a fat muddle-sexed scuzzball, but he is no idiot.
  They sent Bush to St. Petersburg to act like the schmuck he always is.
  They're sending Condoleeza to Lebanon to save the Republican Party.
