Don't know how many of your remember Rao.
He taught the first Buddhist Philosophy class at UT, very popular with the underground fringe students. I was enrolled in the course but sometimes had a tough time finding a seat since dozens of students "monitored" the class. That's where I first met David Martinez. Rao was very mysterious looking, a powerful no-jive persona. Some students claimed that his gaze could put them into a trance, I remember my buddy Ben Blackwell was one of these. Anyway, for those of us who were looking for the exotic and spiritual on campus in Austin in the late '60's, Raja Rao was as close as we could get to the Maharishi. His class was a happening.
