Last Friday was a beautiful day in most of Texas. Randy and I were lucky to be given tickets to see an Astros game. The Minute Maid Park retractable roof was open Friday night, so we were outside with cool breezes blowing over us as we watched the game from the field box looking at 3rd base.
Randy pointed to the flags flying over center field noting that we might be seeing some homeruns - just a little tap will do it with the direction and strength of the wind.
It wasn't till the 6th inning that things got interesting. Astros at bat, two men on base, tied ballgame and a full count. The crowd were on their feet, and Engsberg met the pitchers best pitch (fast ball) and sent a homer over left field into the crowd. After that, there were about 4 homers, a triple and a double. Balls flying high until the final score 12-2 Astros. Great night to be outside in Houston.
I know Gerry is jealous because he likes baseball, but he would probably be rooting for the Colorado Rockies this game. 3-game series over the weekend, gave Astros 3-0 shutout.
Tonight excitement. Barry Bonds (SF Giants) will be at Minute Maid Park and is expected to hit homer no 714. The debate is, should he be cheered or booed.
