List-istas,
Only in Austin could we be treated to a Kerrville-style folk festival (in the winter! indoors!) featuring nationally known folksinging groups for FREE...
  Best,
  Frances

  Thank you, Sisters,
I haven't had a chance to see this new Hotel from the inside and this is a perfect opportunity. BTW I have a new CD from an Alsatian band called By the Rio Grande. My cousin brought it back from a trip to Alsace, which is our tracable European ethnic herritage.
The Rio Grande band has the American country music vernacular down even though they sing the lyrics phonetically, not knowing the meaning of the words. (Once they sang about "pee-play," their pot shot guess as to what "people" sounds like.) Their Western swing version of Amazing Grace is nothing short of AMAZING.
  Best,
  Frances

  Dear Clients and Colleagues,

Several thousand folksingers are descending on Austin this weekend for the 18th Annual International Folk Alliance Conference (www.folkalliance.net). Most of those musicians -- from all over the world -- will be playing and singing (read: showcasing) in Hilton hotel (500 E. 4th) rooms all afternoon, evening, and into the wee hours of Friday through Monday. And here's the best part: You don't have to register for the conference in order to haunt the halls of the Hilton and wander into a room when you hear something you like. The sets are only 30 minutes long, so it's a real smorgasbord. You can listen to a song and then get up and wander down the hall. It's an amazing opportunity. Two years ago in San Diego, I was one of a handful of people in a room with Peggy Seeger. This is the only time Folk Alliance will be in Austin. Treat yourself! It's way better than American Idol. And all you gotta do is find a parking place.

The Therapy Sisters are proud to be members of The Austin Conspiracy of Performing Songwriters (www.austinconspiracy.com) which was originally created to maximize our presence at the Folk Alliance. The Conspiracy is hosting a showcase room in the Hilton. We won't know which room until Friday -- but look for signs.

In the meantime, we do know the whereabouts of the pre-conference showcase we're putting together on Thursday night and we'd love to have you join us. It kicks off the embarrassment of riches that is this Folk Alliance weekend. Oh, and it's free, too! Don't you just love this town?
