All.
One of my summer jobs, whilst a sophomore at UT, whilst working for my, uh, general contractor step-grandfather....was "connecting" new sewer lines to existing sewer lines. That is, breaking into the existing active sewage line with a hammer and chisel, breaking new concrete pipe to fit and then applying appropriate oakum and concrete to seal. All in the bottom of a ditch in Round Rock with ground temp around a 100F.
My previous "bad job"...again for same person, was hauling off the dead and dying sheep to our own personal disposal pit every morning before I left for high school. This time, ground temp around 10 to 20F which was good because it kept the smell of rotting animals to a minimum. I would do this chore after I had slopped the hogs (sour milk, molasses and cotton-seed hulls) and retreived whatever mal-formed baby pigs that hadn't been eaten by the sows during the night. Nothing like a wintry Texas sunrise reflecting its golden light off the partially chewed carcass of a two-headed baby pig. Pure poetry in motion.
By contrast, hunting rats would have been like dining at Four Seasons. What a bunch of weenies! These people don't know Dirty Jobs from Jack Spratt
Happy Holidays.

No movies that you like - I am the same. I've got premium channels, and seldom watch the movies. There is one good one running this month on HBO, if you have that. It was made for HBO, and is called "Yesterday". Lovel y movie set in rural South Africa where folks have a difficult time eeking by. It is about a woman who gets AIDS from her hubby who is off working in a coal mine somewhere else, and she has to go find him and tell him. Anyway, it is worth the time.
If you have a lot of channels now, there is a new series on one of the obscure learning or discover channel, I can't remember which - I just found it surfing. It is called 'Dirty Jobs'. I think it is an hour-long show once a week where the host goes up close to people who do really nasty jobs. Last week, I saw him follow an exterminator around in Louisiana, where they were hired to get rid of chicken snakes and rats (big Norway rats) in the attic. Then they went into a mobile home where there was a German cockroach invasion - open a drawer or cabinet and roaches pour out! Great TV drama, right, and made me nostagic for the old ghetto and just about every apartment I lived in Austin. I recommend that funny show if you can find it.
