taking a razor to your eyeball

Connie,
Ewie reported on a non invasive cataract
operation on his wife's eye(s).
I last saw Dr Rhylander about 3 years
ago (2002) and he was still doing incisions
into the eyeball as he did to mine circa 1988
except he said the incision was shorter than
when he did me.
The natural lens of the eye when it is
cataracted has become clouded over
and has to be REMOVED and replaced
with a plastic lens.
The plastic is ground to your doctor's
best guess as to the correction needed
which they mesure by topographically
mapping the shape of your eyeball.
So until you are cataracted, why would
you want to go under the knife?
OTOH, Ewie reports on a cure for
cataract which apparently does NOT
involve getting the lens stuff out of the
eye. Whereas in the past the lens was
spooned out through the cut they made
into your eyeball.
But I may not have exactly understood
Ewie's description of the procedure.
Mike

Why don't we just go ahead and get the lenses before cataracts? Why wait if
you get better vision after the surgery? Same thing with the knee surgery.
I heard so many swear the great benefits of their new knees - why wait until
you are half crippled before you get them.
Half joking,
Connie
