Thats .05/Kw hour, so a computer might cost you from .43 to $4.38 per
year. Have you thought of applying to electric companies for jobs.
Francis, you working for a government entity in any capacity scares the
shit out of me.

understand that for a tv, and I would assume it also to be true of a
computer monitor, tower, etc.--that they use electricity at .05 per
hour. Leaving the computer "on" all the time, in one year figures to
cost $438 in electricity. Can that be right?!?!?!? I hear that battery
operated radios run $600 per year in batteries alone if on all the
time, and they cost as little as $5 to buy the receiver.
I figured it with a calculator.

I just signed up for a package deal with Grande communications. I get
digital cable, high speed internet, and land-line phone for $89 plus
tax. About $110 a month total. I am currently paying $98 a month for
non-digital cable and internet, plus about $38 for phone. I think I
will be saving about $25 a month. One thing that is different between
cable phone and land-line phone--cable phone you cannot call 911. That
is what Grande told me. If you have a cell phone also, you could call
911 if you needed on it. I don't leave my computer on all the time,
but I do have a firewall, since I leave it on and therefore, connected
to the internet much more than when I had dialup. If you have cable
phone, you need the computer on all the time you want to get a phone
call. Be SURE you have a good firewall. I use the free download Zone
Alarm, and I recommend it. Jim Strong has recommended a different one.
But don't leave a Microsoft computer sitting there on the internet
without a firewall.
