Life in the Big City--lawyers?

It's always helpful to have a few lawyers around, especially as friends to
give you free legal advice. I knew a lot more lawyers in Berkeley and San
Francisco than I do down here in Palo Alto. The bias against lawyers in
this country is largely a right-wing Republican thing: Republicans usually
favor the "rule of the law" as long as it gives them a leg up-- Unlike DA's,
pesky defense attorneys often serve the left, or at least the "commoners."
John Edwards is one of those attorneys-- expect to hear a lot about how
decadent lawyers are in Bush's upcoming anti- Kerry-ticket ads!
