Colon health is best acheived by good diet. If you eat right you don't =
have to worry much about it. If you don't, there all kinds of theories =
about proper colonics, it is in fact a science for some and a popular =
hustle in the alternative health field. Picture meat eating, sugar =
eating, alcohol drinking fat people who start getting sick and run to =
the alternative healers for a silver bullet that will make them =
well...(I'm sure that this doesn't apply to anyone on this page...). But =
if you are into enemas (i'm not), coffee is said to be an excellent =
purgative. Yep, diluted by half with warm water and used as an enema.=20
This is much healthier than drinking it and having it work over the =
digestive system...it is very bad for your health in so many ways it =
would take 20 pages to cover them all. I used to tell people that if =
they were serious about self-healing the first step was to eliminate =
coffee completely and forever.=20
I try to do the Master Cleanser diet at least once a year. It will clean =
you out in a very thorough way. But if I was losing weight mysteriously =
I would probably not risk it. I would probably have a blood check to see =
if anything was seriously out of line.
Healing With Natural Foods by Paul Pritchford is an excellent text for =
eating right.
Also bear in mind the Rainbow concept of nutrition. A meal consisting of =
raw vegetables of all colors (greens, purple cabbage, yellow peppers, =
red beets, white turnips and onions and garlic, orange carrots, with =
generous helpings of sprouts is a way to touch all the bases. If you cut =
them all up into small pieces they are easy to chew together, sprinkled =
with juice from a fresh lemon, a dash of olive oil, etc.
Just try to remember that what you choose to eat should not be judged by =
taste alone, that is only step one...the ease of digestion and the =
smooth elimination are more important. Grown people are supposed to =
understand that mere taste is only the tip of the nutritional iceberg =
and that gluttony is tantamount to suicide...not the way I choose to go =
out.
BTW, my latest (last week) blood check reveals improvements across the =
board in dealing with my lymphoma. Since I started the raw foods diet =
(with occasional hot veggie soups and grains) I am healing it at the =
dinner table.=20
Jon Ford and I have something in common! I don't wipe either. I have a =
dedicated pan which I fill with warm water and rinse by hand, finishing =
with a dash of soap. Then I wash my hands in fresh soapy water. Of =
course in his case the use of a cloth is a viable option since his shit =
probably doesn't stink.

The thing I would be most concerned with would be the unwelcome entry =
into the lower colon of bacteria carried by the water system. =
Personally, I think I would follow the East India principle: boil =
everything...or make tea. A tea colonic should work pretty well. Many =
teas are very, uh, soothing...I understand. Need to communicate with =
Dr. Mesmo. He being our major Herbalist; although, the missing Carol =
knows more than she lets on I suspect.

While I'm not obsessed with health issues or living particularly =
purely (I like my cheap cigars and occasional margarita) I have been =
vegetarian (rather, fishy-tarian) since 1968 and am normally cautious =
about what I imbibe. Over the past couple of years have had peculiar ups =
and downs in body weight which is somewhat unnerving -- from a standard =
(forever) 70kg. or so up to 78kg. which is uncomfortable since I have my =
clothes custom-cut for me, and tight (I know, unfashionable). Then when =
I tried to cut back on the eats I went down, rather suddenly, to 70kg.=20
The latest fierce monkey bite (26 stitches in lower left calf) had =
me on super-killer antibiotics, which took away appetite and made me =
vomit at the slightest provocation. Down to 66kg. No bueno.
Now I'm up to 68 and feel pretty steady (leg also healing, if =
slowly).=20
The reason for this dreary preamble is to ask whether any other =
Wreckers (better than 'Ghettoites', no?) are doing enemas as a habit.=20
I started rinsing out my nether realms about two years ago, since =
toilets here customarily have squirting hoses, and I found that they =
usually carry enough pressure to allow the lower colon to get a good =
rinse, and the last little bits of waste to get flushed out.
I wonder whether there is a downside to enemas -- anybody have any =
experience? I like the concept of cleaning out the chute (just as I =
abhor toilet paper -- what a cockeyed, nasty, troublesome invention that =
is!), and would think that it would be particularly useful for =
constipation. I have the opposite condition, unfortunately, a not =
uncommon occurrence in crowded third-world urban environments, alas.
Sorry to get so nasty but we do share our health concerns, right?
