Thata Meditranean, Wayne,
I looove tabouli, and hummas, too. It's beandip without the lard. I think that when it comes to diabetes the critical thing is the amount per sitting. The average size man needs about 1/3 cup of fuel per hour. If that man eats four times a day, let's see, that amounts to about 1 1/3 cups per meal. That dainty little meal may look like a sissy little-woman size plate, or an outrageously expensive plate at a haut restaurant, but the body likes to have it that way. The digestive chemicals appreciate it when they are not deluged with the overwork of the average 1,500 calorie restaurant meal.
Cheerios,
Frances

Yeah. Just try to find some good chips and good green salsa here in No. VA!
Not much choice around here.
Lately I have been on a Tabouli diet of sorts which features bulgur wheat,
parsley, tomatoes, green or red peppers, green onions, mint, lemon juice and
olive oil. I find this easy to make, delicious to consume and pretty low on
the calorie and cholesterol side. Doesn't seem to have a negative impact on
my Type II problem, especially since I don't eat much of anything else,
except sliced, roasted turkey. Parsley makes me pee a bit more than usual
but that is hardly a problem.
Any comments?
Watch out for those devilish chiminchongas.

for me to add one miniature dark chocolate Hershey bar from the Texaco
station next door. My two strapping six-foot thirty-something sons can
barely finish the generous bowls Igor mentioned. The place is a block from
my apartment, a dozen or so eating places are within two blocks, but I still
mostly eat at home. I like El Rancho out on S. Lamar even if Matt is dead
and gone. The regular dinner is not that outlandishly oversized. I am a
sucker, though, for a basket of chips and a few bowls of salsa.
