She might be right in Texas, but it ain't true in the pricy restaurants in
California, many of which will charge you $20-$30 bucks for a tiny entree
and a small salad. I think it's kind of a class thing-- the big appeal of
"low class" restaurants is that give you a huge amount of high colestorol,
high calorie "comfort food"; the fancy ones are small-serving, low-fat
oriented, and horribly overpriced. So, rich people stay slim, even though
they could afford to eat like hogs if they wanted to, while poor people get
fat because they can only afford to eat at McDonald's or the local
greasy-enchilada spot.
