That was apparently one of the many social graces of "Landslide" Lyndon
Johnson. He'd reach down and hitch 'em up whenever they got stuck.

Somebody very bravely commented on this one day, and the (typical)
response was "If I got an itch I scratch it."

Had plenty of itches, Lyndon did.
