Happy Birthday, dear Texas!

Wayne-- I neither know nor care how old Texas is, but I heard something 
interesting on CNN last night: did you know that the two most hated states 
in the Union are Texas and Massachusetts? Massachusetts is hated generally 
(except by a few Yankees and Californianos) as containing too many people 
who  too intellectual and too liberal; Texas is almost universally despised 
(outside of the Old South and a couple of nearby states) as being  full of 
folks who are violent, crude, untruthful, and way too conservative. 
Therefore, a winning presidential ticket might not be someone from 
Massachusetts paired with a Texan (although, miraculously, it did work for 
once  Kennedy and Johnson).
