Harvey Pekar got a vasectomy: nomen omen or, rather, nomen non omen

Gilbert,

Madelon spotted Frank Stack's name in the credits at the end
of the flick. I was going to mention this but in the list of
characters the cartoonist who draws Our Cancer Year is named
Fred, not Frank. So it seems there IS some kind of contre-temps
between Stack and Pekar unless they kissed and made up. In the
movie Frank Stack or Fred brings his daughter to the Pekar's
apartment when he comes to work on Our Cancer Year as his
divorced wife has left for parts unknown. Joyce bonds with
the little girl (Pekar has had a vasectomy which is the FIRST
thing he tells Joyce on first meeting her -- such is Pekar's
charm) and Frank/Fred winds up giving the child to Joyce and
Harvey to bring up.

Is this the real story about Frank's child or as is more likely
made up for the movie? If made up it would explain why Frank
is named Fred.
