1) Mozilla 1.4 browser/email program
with built-in spam detection which is
very intuitive to use (download at
http://www.mozilla.org)

2) Spam Assassin Proxy (download and
instructions at http://bloomba.com)

3) poisonally, i still think Netscape 3.04
email reader is the best, simplest, most
intuitive email reader. after i turn on
the computer in the morning, and use Mozilla
to dump the overnight spam, i seem to be
still using the obsolete Netscape 3 email
reader

when Netscape 3 freezes, one can usually
close it down without rebooting

Netscape 3 has a very simple GUI with intuitive
mouse commands

when Mozilla 1.4 freezes, one must hard
reboot

OS is Windows 98Se

Joe Ben Clark opines that XP is less
self-corrupting than 98Se
