Carol,

I dont know that this is possible. The Zionists are 
historically guilty of dispossessing the Arabs, close
to a majority of Israelis would concede this. This of
course is true of just about every land everywhere, one
tribe dispossessing the tribe who was already there and
so on and so on back to the extinction of the Neanderthals.

When the early Zionists around 1900 decided to focus on 
Palestine rather than elsewhere, they made a fatal mistake. 
At that time Palestine was relatively unpopulated with
perhaps 40,000 or more native Jews and at least 100,000
native Arabs. It was part of the Turkish Empire. Now 
there are 2 MILLION Arabs in the West Bank, 5 MILLION 
Jews in Israel and another 1 MILLION Israeli Arabs in 
Israel, not counting 200,000 plus Israeli "settlers" in
the West Bank.

When Barak was Prime Minister of Israel he offered 
Arafat the return of 94% of the West Bank and a part of
Jerusalem to be Arafat's capital and reparation money
for Arabs who were dispossessed from Israel in 1948.
The Israelis however refused to accept the principle of 
the repatriation back to Israel of Arabs dispossessed
in 1948.

Arafat then walked out. To be fair to Chairman Arafat,
I don't think he COULD accept the above conditions and
expect to live very long. To a religious Palestinian
it is and will always be unacceptable that non-Moslems 
should rule over a "Moslem" land. As a Moroccan once
told me in the Chuck Wagon back in the 60's 'the Jew
is the stick up the Arab's arse.'

As for the Israelis, they aint repatriating to Alberta
Canada any time soon. They are stuck with an intransigeant
foe. So what they do what they have to do and try to 
manage the unmanagable. They say - Ein brera - No 
alternative!
