Nice indeed!
It seems to me that the bumper stickers "Visualize World Peace," the =
waggish "Visualize Whirled Peas," and Roger's varient, "Visualize =
Industrial Collapse" all amount to the same thing, as long as we just do =
the visual and leave out the actual. It strikes me that Norah Vincent is =
engaged in the same kind of word gamesmanship that she indicts Stanley =
Fish for playing. Neither wordsmith speaks for me. I say we need to end =
terror and violence and bring all the perps to justice: Osama, Sharon, =
Madeline Albright, Henry Kissinger, Pinochet, Bill Clinton, George the =
First & Second, etc. We need to end terror and violence and the social =
injustice (terror and violence) that breeds more of the same terror and =
violence. We can hope to accomplish these ends in our own ways, those =
ways evolving and being informed and clarified as we talk and listen to =
each other. I, for one, believe in cleaning up my own side of the street =
before I attempt to clean up the other side: if Pakistan has horrible =
little extremist grade schools, we have the School of the Americas for =
adults; if Afghanistan has the fundamentalist Taliban, we have Jerry =
Falwell, Pat Robertson, and the abhorrent Dr. Bob Jones and the =
"University" that bears his name. If they drive highjacked planes into =
our innocent buildings, we shoot our very own bought and paid for =
rockets (Your Tax Dollars at Work!) into their innocent buildings. The =
question of who is a greater or lessor terrorist, coward or murderer is =
akin to the question of how many dictators can dance on the head of a =
pin. There is guilt enough to go around. So let us march, demonstrate, =
monkey-wrench, write op-eds, and, yes, visualize, each in our own way to =
change this appalling state of affairs.
And always remember:
"If voting could make a difference, it would be illegal!"

I'm having such a hard time with this situation, trying to sort out =
everything, trying to be fair, trying to understand, trying to =
"prepare", trying to be a source of stability and wisdom for the young =
folk who come, afraid, to me for strength and inspiration, while I'm =

What I'm doing is praying for a miracle, knowing there is *nothing* =
the Star Maker cannot do. Including bringing forth World Peace out of =
this nightmare. For me, knowing such is possible is a form of =
"anchoring the Light". And just maybe, if enough people continue to =
hold World Peace as an expectation, the Light can reach critical mass =
and then Something Else takes over. And that's when World Peace =
