observations

i went downtown yesterday to buy a new vcr at j&r, one of the hard hit 
businesses previously in the shadow of the wtc. it only recently reopened, 
having been closed since 9.11. the smell is still unbelievably strong, but 
was laced w/the aroma from a street vendor's hot dog stand.
i spoke yesterday to my friend in conn. who visited the city on saturday and 
was shocked that reminders of 9.11 permeates the city, which it does not do 
just an hour away.
