Nothing $ucceed$ like financial $ucce$$, e$pecially in politic$.
We live in one of the most heavily "mythologized" societies in recent
history. One of these myths, is that if you make a LOT of money you are
naturally fit to be a Leader. Rarely is this true. In the late, and
recently great, dot-com business, it was mostly dumb luck. Granted there
are some very smart people operating as CEOs here and there. I know a
couple of 'em, but "business acumen" doesn't necessarily translate into
social skills of the type that makes a good mayor for NYC. Giuliani was
not thought to be sanctified, even by his own party, until 9-11.
Fortunately for all, he rose to this occassion or was thrust into it and
responded well.
So let us now fall back upon (or swords, uh not this time) one of our
hoariest cliches....Time will tell.
W.
