Seymour Hersh had a very good quote in his recent piece in the New Yorker 
about the failures of the CIA leading up to the recent unpleasantness...it 
was:

"The most important weapons in the war against international terrorism were 
being evaluated by men and women who, as one of the retired officers put it, 
"wouldn't drive to a D.C. restaurant at night because they were afraid of 
the crime problem."

This is our big rough and tough CIA?  Parlous times indeed.
