it was also after they announced that the FBI or CIA (sorry, on info overload
here) had an office in wtc and they apparently had reached that level. your
observation is not cynical, just the facts, ma'am/sir.
meadow asked: what was the firefighters/policemen clash about anyhow?
firefighters held a demonstration saying the didn't think is was right to cut
back manpower (theirs) because they didn't feel the bodies should be tossed
into landfills w/the rest of the rubble. they got pissed at the cops, who in
turn accused them of throwing punches, hence the handcuffs and jailing. we
are communally entering the anger stage of grief i guess. it is rampant right
now.
not fully sure how i feel about the decision. the desire to recover loved one
and comrades is just. what it is doing to those still at ground zero around
the clock might be considered collateral damage. the effects are showing in
the eyes of some of the men. it is a heartbreaking no win situation.
handcuffing and jailing the firefighters was unconscionable (as was the
timing of the cutbacks), especially since videotape of the incident showed no
punches being thrown.
