Roger:
This is not news, it should be called olds. The Communist government =
has bee pumping out anti-American propaganda for the last 55 years. But =
still the line at the American embassy for visa seekers goes around the =
block and if you travel around China everyone is very friendly to =
Americans. I myself am featured in literally 100's of Chinese family =
photo albums as they always want me to pose with the family for a =
snapshot, generally at some scenic site. I have never felt that the =
Chinese people are anti-American. If they are buying these CDs its for =
the entertainment value. Bush's recent meeting with Jiang didn't go =
well - I could see it in Jiang's face that things were going bad so I am =
not surprised that Xinhua is putting out some anti-American propaganda. =
Another anti-Bush story circulating in the Chinese media is about Bush's =
eating habits while in Shanghai recently. While on his own he would eat =
oatmeal and hamburgers, at Jiang's state dinner for him he really =
didn't care for the Chinese dishes except for the fried rice dish. Some =
of the dishes are kind of strange for western folk. The underlying =
meaning of this story is that Bush is a barbarian and not able to =
appreciate the finer points of Chinese culinary arts. They may be =
right.
An even more worrisome story at the link you pointed to was that Iran is =
getting friendly with the Taleban. The story detailed recent meetings =
between the two.
