riots

Steph-
Keep them cards and letters coming in!
You'll notice that the "conflict between police... and
firefighters" involved work and hours cutbacks imposed
immediately after the $200 million in gold & silver bullion
was found! Just as I (cynically?) suggested in my post of
several weeks ago:

>> ...broadcast media have yet reported the fact that about
$300 million in gold and silver bullion is buried in the sad
rubble of the Twin Towers, and that the (often) truly heroic
rescue workers must submit to body searches each day
when they finish their shifts and leave the site. I've been
reading about this interesting fact since day one, on lists
that talk about commodity and gold futures, and yet again
yesterday in the latest edition of The New Yorker. This
seems newsworthy: but might it somehow taint the furious
(and heroic!) digging that is going on under the stoney-eyed
scrutiny of FBI and Secret Service (Treasury Dept.) agents?
