Minor issues

Hey Rich,
Sorry for such a delayed response !!!

The -d option is a toggle. So if the system configuration files have argus running as a daemon (disconnects from the shell and closes all its file descriptors), then you can run another run of argus, which will read all the system configuration files, and just turn off the daemon mode, say for debugging under gdb, as an example. If run argus with multiple -d’s you’ll see that its on, then off, then on, then off.

We don’t have auto-restart as a part of our modules, that comes from the system services, which are managed by systemctl or launchctl, or whatever, depending on your system. Hopefully you have gotten this far with your use of argus.

The mailing list is, or rather was, on gmane.org, which is undergoing a lot issues, as it closed, and now its partially reopening. We’re working to get our mailing list archive back on line, hoping to continue to support gmane.org <http://gmane.org/>.

So, the page that offers the source code is in the “Getting Argus” link on the argus web site … http:// qosient.com/argus

You don’t need m4, generally, because m4 is only used if you need to modify the autoconf scripts, and m4 comes with autoconf, and you don’t have to have autoconf to get started … we tried to take care of that, but we provide the 2 .m4 files so that you can do it if you want to.

I would like to think that the FAQ is old (probably 10 years old), and hasn’t been updated in a while. If I get a chance, I’ll try to update it, but if someone else wants to grab that as a task, I would love to update the FAQ all around.

Hope things are most excellent,
Carter

If I start it up that way, and then kill the process.... it appears that a new instance starts up. If I want to change the command line parameters... how do I kill the process and leave it dead, so that i can start it up in a different way?
