Gentle people,
A new set of release candidates is now available on the server.
This set enables SASL support for strong encryption and authentication
for argus and its clients. This release is intended for those that are
doing SASL testing (although anyone is welcome to test), as you need
to create sasl accounts on the machine running argus (saslpasswd),
so there is some work to do just to get started.

Enable SASL support for either argus or its clients by running:

    ./configure --with-sasl

The configure should find -lsasl, but if that doesn't work for you,
definitely fodder for bug reporting. This version is designed to
find sasl, but sasl2 should work.

To turn on security for argus data in transit, you should remove th
comments from the "ARGUS_MIN_SSF" and "ARGUS_MAX_SSF"
variables, this turns on argus security, and clients should have
"RA_USER_AUTH" and "RA_AUTH_PASS" variables set in the
appropriate .rarc file. This should get you started.

Use a -D4 to see the SASL authentication strings on either the argus
or client side.

Of course send comment, reactions, attitudes, opinions, whatever to
the mailing list!!!!

Carter
