patches for clients.beta.44

	Since beta.44 isn't released yet it shouldn't be in ports yet either.
When it is released (which should be soon) it should compile clean for the 
ports maintainer, needing only the changes to the makefile to comply with 
the ports requirements. This way has the advantage that people that choose to
not use ports and compile themselves will also get a clean compile from the
standard distribution.
