Thatâs correct. There is no automatic syncing between Macs and iCloud. If you later edit the document on your Mac, your changes are not automatically updated to the copy on iCloud.

Press and hold the iPad 2's power button to elicit the "Slide to Power Off" slider -- but don't slide the control to actually turn it off. Next, close the Smart Cover over the iPad's display to put the device to sleep. Finally, open the Smart Cover and click Cancel on the power off screen. From there, the iPad will present whatever was last running before you locked it.
**** Making The iBio For Appleâs Genius <http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/22/books/steve-jobs-by-walter-isaacson-review.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss>
Janet Maslin, New York Times
Mr. Jobs, the brilliant and protean creator whose inventions so utterly transformed the allure of technology, turned those childhood lessons into an all-purpose theory of intelligent design. He gave Mr. Isaacson a chance to play by the same rules. His story calls for a book that is clear, elegant and concise enough to qualify as an iBio. Mr. Isaacsonâs âSteve Jobsâ does its solid best to hit that target.

I decided to take a closer look at what people are saying about Steve Jobs, as a whole. Looking at how the site updates, it appears to use Ajax to retrieve and display new messages. Using Chromeâs developer tools, I monitored the requests it was making to get the new messages.

With the death of each new generation of booksellers, each failed âbusiness model,â the independent literary writer/poet/publisher wants to say, âGood riddance, they had it coming,â only to be mortified by how much worse the thing is that takes its place.

Poetry is, you might say, the command-line prompt of the human operating system, a stream of characters that calls forth action, that elicits response. Lemmy Caution knew this, when he recited Borges to hack Alpha 60 and win the heart of his chosen babe.

**** WP MPs Will Scrutinise Policies For Loopholes: Low Thia Khiang <http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1160945/1/.html>
S Ramesh, Channel NewsAsia
In his speech in English, Mr Low said his party's MPs will scrutinise policies for any loopholes and gaps that are likely to affect the people adversely and will be the voice of the people in the House so that the government will also consider their concerns and needs in any policy trade-off.
Mr Low also urged the government to view indicators such as the Gross National Happiness in addition to GNP and GDP as part of the new normal which has been described by President Tony Tan Keng Yam in his opening speech to Parliament.

Channel NewsAsia
MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, Penny Low, has called on the government to aim beyond the GDP measure of growth and look at a more holistic national measurement system. She said GDP does not give the finer points needed to understand if growth trickles down to the common man, and if it contributes to his or her sense of well-being.

If this glacial pace of attentiveness to defence matters of public concern is not fixed, MINDEF will surrender valuable opportunities to address nagging public concerns that will chip away at commitment to defence over time. These are own goals MINDEF should not score.

Alex Au, Yawning Bread
In a post right after the general election, I had suggested that Lee Hsien Loongâs biggest problem lies within his own party (recall my use of the word âinfightingâ above). Assuming that Lee himself sees what needs to be done (and I am not altogether convinced myself) he simply doesnât have enough people around him who sees likewise. My guess is that half his cabinet at least are more comfortable sticking to old habits. They prefer to deny problems than deal with them. They prefer to hammer opponents than engage in debate on the substance.
Change cannot be effected without changemasters and the first attribute of a changemaster is to feel no obligation to defend the past. It is only then that he is able to sweep things away and clear the ground for rebuilding. Lee has too many ministers who by dint of ego or temperament would defend the past to their last breath.
