When the cleaner wipes it out, it appears that the app has failed and deleted their data. And customers won’t know that it’s an iOS 5 behavior — they’ll understandably blame the app developers. Even though it’s not our fault, it’s certainly going to become our problem.

There needs to be a file storage location that behaves the way Caches did before iOS 5: it’s not backed up to iTunes or iCloud, it’s not synced, but it’s also never deleted unless the app is deleted.

Singapore cut its growth forecast and said it will slow currency gains, the first easing in monetary policy since 2009, as a faltering global economy undermines demand for electronics exports and financial services.

Gross domestic product may increase 5 percent this year, compared with an earlier forecast range of 5 percent to 6 percent, the trade ministry said in a statement today. The central bank, which uses the island’s dollar as its main tool to manage inflation, said it will reduce the pace at which the currency strengthens and continue with a modest and gradual appreciation.

An SMRT spokesperson said a westbound train at Kallang MRT Station encountered a train fault and had to be taken out of service at 5.10pm. This disrupted the westbound train service between Kallang and Bugis for 20 minutes.

But passengers on the westbound services between Kallang to Joo Koon experienced even longer waiting times due to the heavy evening peak-hour rush.
