Marco Tabini, Macworld
Because PDF support is built right into the operating system, OS Xâs printing system gives applications the ability to âprintâ a file directly to PDF. In practice, this means that any application that supports printing is capable of generating a PDF file that can be saved, e-mailed, or faxed to a third party.

**** A World Without Jobs <http://www.culture-making.com/articles/a_world_without_jobs>
Andy Crouch, Culture Making
As remarkable as Steve Jobs is in countless waysâas a designer, an innovator, a (ruthless and demanding) leaderâhis most singular quality has been his ability to articulate a perfectly secular form of hope. Nothing exemplifies that ability more than Appleâs early logo, which slapped a rainbow on the very archetype of human fallenness and failureâthe bitten fruitâand made it a sign of promise and progress.

It helps to understand when and why something needs to be ice-cold, chilled, room temperature, hot, or caramelized. Seeing things from the ingredients' point of view takes the mystery out of bakingâso you can march confidently into the kitchen and make something sweet.

**** Bureaucrat Faces Life In Jail As Singapore Protects Image <http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-18/singapore-official-faces-life-in-prison-as-city-state-protects-clean-image.html>
Andrea Tan, Bloomberg
Singapore may send a former government executive to prison for life to protect its graft- free image, after jailing the first of his alleged accomplices in a decade-long scam for 10 years.
Singapore pays its top officials the worldâs highest public salaries to prevent graft and was ranked the most business- friendly country by the World Bank in November. The city-state has built a $182 billion economy by attracting companies including Hewlett-Packard Co. and Pfizer Inc. with its reputation for strong investor protection and low corruption. That image has been dented by the duration of the fraud, which lasted from July 1999 to March 2010, and the allegation that Koh and former colleague Christopher Lim Chai Meng used the money to buy apartments and cars including a S$1.6 million limited-edition Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV and a Ferrari F430.

The Reform Party rally, held at Speakerâs Corner on a rainy Saturday afternoon, continually questioned the actions of the incumbent PAP. But it also managed to raise awareness on many of the alternate solutions available to the issues concerning Singaporeans â mainly the influx of foreigners, high ministerial pay, as well as the increasing income divide.

In an email sent to TOCâs acting chief editor Joshua Chiang and founders Choo Zheng Xi and Andrew Loh, the PMO asserted that TOC is ânot a passive websiteâ, as it âhas organized online and offline
campaigns to change legislation and government policies, a forum for local politicians, and polls on public support for local politicians and on other political issues concerning Singaporeâ.
The letter argued that the definition of âpolitical associationâ under the Political Donations Act (PDA) clearly applies to TOC â whether or not it considers itself non-partisan.

Gilbert Koh, Mr Wang Says So
If you actually expect your CPF money to cover your retirement needs, you could be seriously screwing your own financial health. Instead you should be actively saving and investing for your retirement, with your non-CPF funds.
In addition, due to the long-term nature of the CPF scheme and the government's power to write and rewrite the rules, one may also conclude that your CPF monies are exposed to a significant degree of political risk.

Now as it turns out, his short film â which was made into a full-length movie in 2003 â was prophetic, even visionary.
