**** "Ah-Choo!": What You Didn't Know About The Common Cold <http://www.salon.com/books/feature/2010/09/19/jennifer_ackerman_common_cold_interview/index.html>
Michael Humphrey, Salon

The common cold makes fools of us. It's not just the runny nose and Daffy Duck speech; it's our naiveté about preventing, alleviating and curing the mess. Despite spending millions of dollars on preventions such as Airborne and immunity enhancers and endlessly washing our hands, we humans are still constantly undone by the minuscule menace. On average, we catch between 100 and 200 colds in our lifetime, and in the coming weeks, as the weather cools off, it will likely reduce millions to heaps of mucous and lethargy.

**** Minimum Wage Not Necessary In “Today’s World”? <http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/09/minimum-wage-not-necessary-in-%e2%80%9ctoday%e2%80%99s-world%e2%80%9d/>
Kirsten Han, The Online Citizen

As the government has pointed out, there is actually no shortage of jobs in Singapore. However, what they have constantly overlooked is the fact that many of these jobs pay so little that Singaporeans are simply unable to accept them. The government then brands such Singaporeans as “choosy” and begins to import migrant workers by the truckload to fill these jobs. It all feeds into a vicious cycle.

The sharp drop in interest rates at the expiry of the 4% floor rate may impact CPF members who may not have benefited fully from the economic recovery yet. Therefore, the Government has decided to extend the 4% floor rate on SMRA monies for another year.”

Malaysia and Singapore have agreed to bring the outstanding issue on the development charges payable on Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) land in the city-state that will be jointly developed by both countries, to the international court for arbitration.

It is understood that the development charges, which applied to any business that wants to develop any land in Singapore, will be significant if the three parcels of land are going to be developed. The contention now is that based on the POA entered into, by both countries in 1990, the clause on who should pay the development charges was not clear enough. Singapore interpreted that the company should pay for the development charges but Malaysia said there should be no cost at all.
