**** In Praise Of Disposable Computing <http://www.slate.com/id/2276320/>
Farhad Manjoo, Slate

The basic idea of disposable computing is to separate your data from your machine—to make all of your stuff easy to move and access.

**** Do You Trust Apple's App Store With The Future Of 'Print'? <http://blogs.computerworld.com/17441/do_you_trust_apples_app_store_with_the_future_of_print>
Jonny Evans, Computerworld

I'd hate the App Store team to begin to allow/disallow titles on anything other than clearly explained and expressed pre-known guidelines.

**** Apple Kills Super Fast MacBook Air SSD Replacement <http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2010/11/apple-kills-super-fast-macbook-air-ssd-replacement.ars?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss>
Chris Foresman, Ars Technica

Asian technology company PhotoFast announced one of the first replacement SSDs for Apple's new, slimmer MacBook Airs shortly after the ultraportable notebooks were announced in October. However, Apple has asked the company to stop all production of the upgrades, which used much faster controllers than those in Apple's official SSDs.

Jeffrey Mincey, Mac360

If there is one thing every Mac user with a browser needs, it’s to use RSS to browse web sites. It’s the killer way to view more sites in less time.

The Star

Could the secret be in its simplicity and intuitive user-interface? The iPad does not try to equal a portable computer, and anyone who can operate a smartphone can use it. The iPad does not intimidate most people the way computers do.

We still await the novelist who can address the matter of the last, best hope of earth and treat it without frivolity, without cynicism, and without embarrassment.

**** No Way Back? <http://shih.blogspot.com/2010/11/no-way-back.html>
all the world's a stage

It's such a small world how I now have crossed paths with another person in the legal sector who has gone through very similar circumstances as I have. A Malaysian, formerly a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR), who went through many years in the Singapore education system, gave up PR after 'A' Levels, and then tried to return to Singapore to work after graduating from university.

**** Income Cap Ensures Bursaries Serve Purpose <http://www.todayonline.com/Voices/EDC101201-0000159/Income-cap-ensures-bursaries-serve-purpose>
Danny Lim, Today

If a bursary is to truly serve its purpose, surely an income cap has to be in place. If one's family income is above the cap, then chances are the bursary amount is not significant enough to be of help as compared to giving the money to a poorer student of equal talent.

**** How Road Diversions Affect Fares <http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/OnlineStory/STIStory_608965.html>
Eugene Tan, Public Transport Council, Helen Lim, Land Transport Authority, Today

With the transition to distance fares, the Public Transport Council (PTC) has decided that for road diversions that last more than one year and are therefore more permanent in nature, the post-diversion distance will be used to calculate the fare. This is a fair approach, as road diversions can result in either a lengthening or shortening of routes.

上世纪90年代初,邓小平再次赞赏新加坡“经济秩序好,他们管得严,我们要借鉴他们的做法,而且要比他们管得更好。”应该说,新加坡的这些“好”至今依然是中国政府所想要的。

**** Rethinking And Remodelling Moral Education <http://guanyinmiao.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/rethinking-and-remodelling-moral-education/>
Guanyinmiao's Musings

There is a desperate need to mould the teacher’s role into one of a moderator, rather than one of a “values dispenser”. The teacher does not insist on sharing the “right” views; instead, the message should be that people hold different moral yardsticks and standards, and that compromises can be reached through constructive negotiation.

S Ramesh, Channel NewsAsia

When the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link between Singapore and Iskandar Malaysia gets underway by 2018, commuters would need to clear immigration only once for each way of travel.

That's because the Singapore-Malaysia Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia has agreed to set up a co-located Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facility in Singapore and another in Johor.
